This fall, while students were busy learning their 3 R’s, Allen Tate Realtors across North and South Carolina were focused on another R – raising money for public education.
Over the past 17 years, Allen Tate agents and employees have raised more than $1.52 million to benefit public schools throughout the Carolinas from the company’s annual FUNday event. The event – where agents “pay to play” – has taken the form of a field day, tailgate picnic, community workday and evening reception.
This year, FUNday was held as four separate regional events throughout the company’s footprint, ranging from an evening reception in Greenville, S.C., to a red-carpet gala in Greensboro; a Mad Men-era cocktail party in Raleigh; and an evening tailgate event at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. The net total raised from all 2014 FUNday events was more than $145,000, the most in the past decade.
“The amount of creativity, passion and hard work that our agents and staff invested in this year’s events was phenomenal. That’s not to mention the financial investment they made – recruiting sponsors, paying to attend the events, bidding on silent and live auction items and purchasing raffle tickets,” said Pat Riley, president and chief operating officer, Allen Tate Company.
“I am not aware of another group of people this large – outside of our fine educators and professional staff, of course – who consistently dedicate themselves to the wonderful and very important cause of public education.”
FUNday is part of the Tate Cares giving initiative, along with the company’s annual combined giving campaign each spring to benefit arts and cultural organizations and United Way agencies.
