Chris Cope, president of Allen Tate Mortgage, has been installed as president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of the Carolinas (www.MBAC.org), one of the nation’s oldest and most influential banking organizations, at the organization’s 59th Annual Convention held September 22 in Charleston, S.C.
He will serve as president of the two-state, 160-member organization from November 1, 2014 to October 31, 2015. MBAC serves as the voice of mortgage regarding legislative matters in North and South Carolina and works closely with federal and state agencies to bring about improved programs and procedures to the mortgage banking industry.
Cope joined Allen Tate Company in 2007, where he leads the mortgage banking team in 40 locations throughout the Charlotte, Triad, Triangle and Upstate regions of the Carolinas. A graduate of the University of Florida, he has more than 18 years of experience in the mortgage services industry, including leadership positions with Merrill Lynch, Burnet Financial Group and Sunbelt Lending Services.
Cope currently serves on the board of advisors of the UNC Nutrition Research Institute and on the board of advisors of MeckEd. He and his wife, Kathy, live in Charlotte with their two sons. He enjoys deep sea fishing, golf and tennis.
